Crystal Palace eyeing Nathan Ake swoop

Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing 30-year-old Dutch defender Nathan Ake from Manchester City next year.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are planning to raid Manchester City for Nathan Ake next year, and the versatile Dutch defender faces an uncertain future at the Etihad.

Manchester City paid £40 million to sign the Dutchman. Meanwhile, Crystal are likely to lose Marc Guehi at the end of the season, and they will need to replace their club captain.

The 25-year-old defender will be out of contract in the summer, and he has decided not to sign an extension with the Eagles. Crystal Palace have identified the Netherlands international as a potential replacement.

Ake has proven himself in the Premier League with Bournemouth and Manchester City. There is no doubt that the 30-year-old has the qualities to compete at the highest level regularly, and he could prove to be an excellent addition for Crystal Palace.

The versatile Dutch defender is very much at the peak of his powers, and he knows the Premier League well. He will be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact at Crystal Palace. Manchester City are unlikely to stand in his way either, as he is not a regular starter for them.

Even though Nathan Ake is an important squad player, he is not an indispensable asset. So, Manchester City are likely to sanction his departure if the right offer is presented. It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace come forward with a suitable offer in the coming months.

Ake could fancy a move

Meanwhile, Nathan Ake could be tempted to join Crystal Palace as well. The Eagles have shown that they have an exciting project. The South London outfit have won the FA Cup and the Community Shield recently, and they are competing in European football.

Oliver Glasner’s men have shown that they have what it takes to beat top teams, and Ake will want to be a part of their project. In addition to that, he would get to experience regular first-team football with Crystal Palace as well. The former Bournemouth defender needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and joining the South London club could be ideal for him.

Guehi has been a very important player for Crystal Palace and they need someone who can fill his void. The Manchester City defender has played for a big club, and he has fought for major trophies regularly. His experience, leadership skills, and quality could make a big difference for the Eagles. In theory, he should prove to be an excellent replacement for the Crystal Palace captain.
