According to an update by Pete O’Rourke, Ethan Pinnock is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back before the winter transfer window shuts down. So, the 32-year-old Brentford defender has emerged as a target for the South London outfit.
Ethan Pinnock has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Brentford from Barnsley in July 2019. Born in London, the experienced defender spent his formative years in his home city, passing through the academies at Millwall, Fisher Athletic, and AFC Wimbledon before graduating from the youth division at Dulwich Hamlet.
However, while the 32-year-old represented several clubs in his professional career until he moved to Brentford, he did not land on his feet before joining the West London club. Pinnock was a regular in his first few seasons with the Bees, but his stock has fallen in the last 18 months.
The Jamaican international has not even managed 500 minutes of game time across six outings thus far in the 2025/26 season. Additionally, Pinnock has entered the final 18 months of his deal with Brentford, and a winter exit may be on the cards for the veteran centre-back. The player’s next destination may be within London, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
Crystal Palace’s interest in Ethan Pinnock is understandable. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the winter transfer window, as they were concerned about Marc Guehi’s long-term future. With the English international joining Manchester City last month, the search for a new central defender has ramped up.
Several candidates, including Joel Ordonez, have thus emerged on Crystal Palace’s wishlist, with Pinnock also a viable target. While the 32-year-old London-born defender may not be a long-term solution at the heart of the defence, he can potentially hit the ground running at Selhurst Park.
That makes Pinnock an appealing target, and he will also be a cost-effective signing due to his stature and contract situation at Brentford. It will be interesting to see if a last-gasp move to Crystal Palace is on the cards for the Jamaican international.
