Sport Bild reports that negotiations over a contract extension between Stuttgart and striker Deniz Undav are proving complicated.
Undav’s current contract at Stuttgart expires in 2027, and the Swabians do not want to let him enter the final year of his contract, so talks over an extension are beginning to intensify.
However, the issue is that Undav wants a three-year extension, while Stuttgart are only interested in a two-year deal. The striker turns 30 in July this year. While Undav is also not expected to receive a salary increase beyond his current €4.5m a year deal.
If an agreement cannot be reached before the summer, then it cannot be ruled out that Undav leaves Bad Cannstatt. Despite feeling comfortable at Mercedesstraße, several clubs from across Europe as well as the Premier League, continue to show interest in him.
Despite having the early stages of this season affected by injury, Undav has been in the best form of his career.
In 26 games this season, the 29-year-old has 14 goals and eight assists in all competitions and is a big reason behind VfB’s form in the Bundesliga as well as in Europe.
