Manchester United, Liverpool interested in Mateus Mane

Manchester United and Liverpool are both keen on acquiring the services of Wolves attacking sensation Mateus Mane.

According to a report from SportsBoom, Mateus Mane’s impressive rise at Wolves has put him on the radar of Manchester United and Liverpool. Scouts from both Premier League giants have been keeping tabs on him regularly, and they seem very keen on signing him.

Mane joined the Wolves setup at the start of 2024. He went up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to the first team last summer. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has already featured in 15 games for the senior side and has even contributed towards four goals.

His impressive performances in the English top flight this season haven’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe are now interested in his services. Scouts from numerous clubs have been spotted in the stands of Molineux in recent months.

Premier League giants want Mane

Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the biggest contenders for his signature. They have been tracking every move of the youngster over the past month. They have reportedly watched him in action against West Ham and Everton, where Mane found the back of the net in consecutive games.

The reports that the scouts have passed on to the clubs are said to be filled with exceptional ratings. As a result, both clubs are very keen on signing the teenager, who prefers playing as a number ten but can feature on either flank.

He has a strong physical presence, can link up with teammates and also has the knack of scoring goals. Mane has shown maturity beyond his years, and it is one of the major reasons why both English giants want him in their squad.

Wolves’ stance on Mane’s future

Wolves had a clear stance regarding his future in January; they had no intentions of sanctioning his departure. Having cashed in on Jorgen Strand Larsen, who joined Crystal Palace, they had already raised enough funds.

United and Liverpool both held talks with Wolves, but their asking price in the region of £45–50 million blocked a potential transfer. Both clubs retain interest in him and could make a move next summer. A lot will depend on Wolves’ future in the league.

They are currently fighting for survival. If they manage to avoid the drop, they will stick with a similar price tag, but a potential relegation to the Championship could significantly reduce the fee.
