Manchester United, PSG vying for Anisio Cabral

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing 17-year-old Portuguese attacking prodigy Anisio Cabral from SL Benfica.

According to a report by French outlet Media Foot, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have set their sights on Anisio Cabral. The two European powerhouses are keen on reinforcing their setups by signing a promising young striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 17-year-old SL Benfica wonderkid has emerged as a target for them.

The latest report has revealed that the youngster’s contract with SL Benfica has a release clause worth €65 million. However, PSG will attempt to “negotiate a lower price for the Portuguese striker” and will look to bring the transfer fee down to €50 million or less. However, with Manchester United also involved, the battle for his signature may go down to the wire.

Who is Anisio Cabral?

Anisio Cabral is the latest promising prodigy to rise in prominence in his homeland. Born in Lisbon, the teenage prospect has spent his formative years thus far in Portugal, starting his youth career with Alta de Lisboa before graduating from the youth division at SL Benfica. The 17-year-old has already broken into the first-team squad at the Primeira Liga club.

Cabral has scored two goals in only 20 minutes of game time across three appearances for SL Benfica thus far. Meanwhile, the Portuguese striker’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

High in demand

Manchester United’s interest in Anisio Cabral is understandable. While the Red Devils signed Benjamin Sesko last summer, they can do with a long-term alternative to the Slovenian striker to sustain the challenge of competing on four fronts season after season. Cabral has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.

As for PSG, Goncalo Ramos faces an uncertain future at Parc des Princes amid his links with Premier League clubs. Even if the Portuguese international continues his stint with Les Parisiens, they can do with another striker. So, Cabral is an option worth considering for PSG.

However, while the 17-year-old Portuguese wonderkid has a release clause worth €65 million in his contract with Benfica, the Ligue 1 giants hope to secure his services for less than €50 million. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United and PSG are eventually ready to pay €65 million to land the youngster’s signature in the summer transfer window.
