Chelsea ahead of Tottenham, Newcastle United in Dusan Vlahovic race, Manchester United set to cool interest

Chelsea are positioning themselves ahead of their rivals in the race for Dusan Vlahovic, with the Serbian likely to leave Juventus.

According to Team Talk, Chelsea are positioned strongly in the race for Dusan Vlahovic, as Liam Rosenior’s side are keen ot bring in a new striker in the summer. Teams like Tottenham and Newcastle United are also interested in the Serbian, while Manchester United are reportedly cooling theirs.

Dusan Vlahovic could be one of the big stories of the summer window, should he decide to leave Juventus. The Serbian striker, who arrived at the club from Fiorentina in January 2022, has been hot and cold for the Turin giants, scoring 64 goals so far during his spell here.

Talks with Juventus over a new deal have stalled for months, which has opened the possibility of a Bosman departure in the summer. There are a host of teams making their presence felt should they get an indication from Vlahovic’s camp over a desire to move. The Serbian is reportedly open to a Premier League move, but that too may depend on the quality of the offers he might receive.

The main sticking point in the stalled talks with Juventus is his €12 million-a-year salary, which the club are not ready to match or improve in the new deal. Whether that is the range some of the Premier League teams are willing to pay remains the question. Newcastle United are one of those keen, but they might need Champions League football to convince the striker over a move, which seems unlikely at the moment.

The Mgpies are making serious consideration over pushing for a deal, but one team that is ready to cool their interest is Manchester United. The Red Devils do not want to take over an expensive striker without a big promise of output for their side. They ight stil show some admiration and keep tabs, but at the moment they are out of the race.

Chelsea leading the Vlahovic race?

Chelsea and Tottenham were seen as leading candidates for Vlahovic a while ago, and it appears the Blues are ready to position themselves strongly in the hunt. Liam Rosenior is eager to bring in a quality striker, potentially as a replacement for the ineffective Liam Delap, next summer, as the €12 million-a-year Serie A star might fit the bill.

They could face competition from Tottenham, but given the north Londoners’ current plight in the Premier League, it’s difficult to see them convincing Vlahovic without Champions League football. Hence, Chelsea are potentially the front runners as things stand, especially with Manchester United cooling their interest.
