Manchester United front-runners to sign Yan Diomande

Manchester United are leading the race to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, amidst interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Yan Diomande has taken his game to the next level since joining RB Leipzig. On the back of his sensational rise, he is widely regarded as one of the best young forwards in the world, and the biggest clubs in Europe are now after his signature.

Premier League giants Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool are all keen on signing him. But according to a report from Fussballdaten, the Red Devils are the ones leading the race to acquire his services.

Diomande had a short, impressive spell at Leganes before making the move to Leipzig last summer. Since joining the German outfit, the 19-year-old winger has been involved in a total of 23 matches. He has racked up just over 1,600 minutes and has contributed towards 14 goals (8 goals, 6 assists).

His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. While his contract runs until 2030, Leipzig might struggle to keep hold of him beyond this season. The Bundesliga giants would want around €100 million for the teenager, but even that might not be a big hurdle for interested clubs given his massive potential.

Premier League giants to battle for Diomande

The player has recently changed agents, which further adds to the speculations around his future. However, it has resulted in a legal battle with his previous agency, which is one of the major reasons why Liverpool have taken a back seat in their pursuit of the Ivorian winger.

However, since the Reds see him as an ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, they will continue to monitor his situation. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also keen on his signature as they look to further bolster the left flank. They consider him a potential upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli.

While both Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on his signature, Manchester United are believed to be the frontrunner. Since Marcus Rashford (currently on loan at Barcelona) has no future at the club, the Red Devils need a new left-winger, and they consider Diomande a missing piece in their puzzle.

It won’t be that easy a deal to strike, given the high asking price and the competition for his signature. However, United are best placed at this stage, and it will be interesting to see if they do manage to bring him to Old Trafford.
