Morgan Gibbs-White poised to leave Nottingham Forest this summer

Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Manchester City have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White.

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Morgan Gibbs-White looks all set to leave Nottingham Forest ahead of next season. The Tricky Trees won’t be able to hold onto their star midfielder if they end up getting relegated to the EFL Championship.

It is a massive boost for clubs like Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Manchester City, who have been keeping tabs on him for some time. The English international will certainly have no shortage of options when he decides to move on from the City Ground.

Morgan Gibbs-White came up the ranks at Wolves and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022. He has only gone from strength to strength since. The 26-year-old has been involved in 153 matches and has contributed towards 57 goals.

While he prefers playing as a number ten, the English international has featured higher up the pitch as well as in deeper roles when needed. The Tricky Trees are struggling in the ongoing campaign; they find themselves 17th on the table, just three points clear of the drop zone.

Despite the team’s struggles, Gibbs-White has been a standout performer with 11 goal contributions (8 of which have come in the Premier League). On the back of his consistent performances, multiple top clubs want to prise him away, and the upcoming transfer window looks like the perfect opportunity for them.

Morgan Gibbs-White’s uncertain future

While speaking about his future, O’Rourke said, “Yeah, it’s gonna be an interesting one with regards to Morgan Gibbs-White’s long term future. If Nottingham Forest were to go down, it would be inevitable I think that he would move on. I don’t think he’s keen to play in the Championship.

“Obviously, he came very close to a move away from the City Ground after Tottenham triggered his release clause, before he eventually signed a new deal until 2028. Although Forest won’t want to lose him, I’m sure they’ll probably will be expecting interest in him.

“There’s obviously talk that Tottenham could rekindle their interest, Man City have been long-term admirers of the player, and there’s been talk that Villa could be interested in Gibbs-White. There will be a number of Premier League clubs who will be interested in the former Wolves man.”

Gibbs-White looks set to leave Nottingham Forest

The 26-year-old looks poised to leave the Tricky Trees after the end of the season. If the Midlands outfit fail to survive the drop, his departure is certain, and clubs like Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City are already gearing up to sign him.

While the Englishman did turn down a move to the North London club last summer, that is unlikely to happen this time around if they do go down. Spurs and City both have long-standing interest in him, while Aston Villa have also entered the race.

At Villa Park, he could become one of the leaders of their team, while the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola could be very difficult to turn down. He certainly won’t find it easy to choose his next club, given the amount of interest in his signature.
