Doubts about Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s new Napoli contract

The future of André-Frank Zambo Anguissa at Napoli has hit a significant stumbling block as persistent injury concerns cast doubt over his contract renewal.

According to a report by AreaNapoli, negotiations between the club and the Cameroonian midfielder have slowed down considerably. While positive discussions were held with his representatives and a mutual willingness to extend the partnership exists, the physical condition of the player has brought progress to a halt.

Anguissa has been battling a complex lower back issue, reportedly a lumbar hernia, which has kept him sidelined since mid-November and forced him to miss the recent Africa Cup of Nations. This mystery injury has created a sense of caution within the Napoli hierarchy. Athough the club is eager to reward his importance to the squad, they are hesitant to finalize a long-term commitment until there is clarity on his recovery.

As it stands, there is hope within the camp that Anguissa can return to the pitch soon to provide the necessary guarantees. However, should his absence continue to drag on, the situation could shift from a temporary standstill to a more serious alarm regarding his long-term future in Naples.
