Dybala Inches Closer to Roma Exit, Boca Juniors Looming

Roma might not put up a fiery fight to keep hold of Paulo Dybala, given their revised wages policy and the player’s recurrent physical problems. At this stage, the Argentine and his camp have been more active in the talks with Boca Juniors rather than with his current club, Matteo Moretto reports (via SOSFanta).

La Joya has entered the final few months of his original contract. The Giallorossi have decided to be less lavish on personal terms, especially when it comes to veterans. He’s by far the highest-paid player in the squad as a result of a dated and complex agreement.

Roma are mulling whether to offer Dybala a reduced salary, but the parties haven’t started negotiating yet. He’d have to take a €4/5M pay cut to re-up. Instead, his entourage is in constant contact with Boca Juniors, which are trying to bring him back to Argentina, replicating the Leandro Paredes operation. For now, he’s closer to departing than to staying.

The striker has a baby on the way. His wife, Oriana, didn’t hide his disappointment about the fact that he would be born in Italy rather than in Argentina, where her family resides, in an interview with Resumido (via Fanpage).

Our Take on Roma and Dybala

His absences and their success without him made them grow apart. It looks like it might end without even a late offer, as it happened with Juventus back in the day. Gian Piero Gasperini surely wouldn’t mind having only dynamic youngsters at his disposal, but one between him and Lorenzo Pellegrini should be confirmed, preferably in a lesser role, to have some leadership and continuity and avoid having to sign too many players in the summer.
