Eddie Howe not pushing Newcastle United to sign Darwin Nunez

Eddie Howe does not want to sign Darwin Nunez from Al-Hilal despite recent links, as the Newcastle United boss prefers other ideas.

According to Football Insider, Darwin Nunez is not a player that Eddie Howe wants ahead of the summer to improve his strike force. There are some problems with his existing strikers and their level of performance, but the out-of-favour Al-Hilal star is not seen as a target by the Magpies boss.

Newcastle United spent big on two strikers, anticipating the sale of Alexander Isak in the summer. First, Nick Woltemade arrived from Stuttgart, and then Yoane Wissa made his move, as the Swede joined Liverpool on deadline day.

While Woltemade made a bright start to life at St James’ Park, in reality, both the German and Wissa have failed to make their mark this season. The former is already being linked with a return to the Bundesliga, although Eddie Howe might not want to lose him just yet, as the status of Wissa remains unknown ahead of the summer.

Of late, Newcastle United have been linked to a few striker names, which include Sporting CP’s Luis Suarez, among others. Whether they are realistically looking to bring the Colombian remains to be seen, but Howe is not interested in one name that has made the news in recent weeks.

Darwin Nunez was linked with a move to Newcastle United, but Howe is not overly keen to bring the disgruntled 26-year-old back to the Premier League. The Uruguayan has had a difficult time at Al-Hilal, whom he joined in the summer from Liverpool.

Darwin Nunez to leave Al-Hilal?

Al-Hilal’s surprise signing of Karim Benzema has seen Nunez sidelined in Simone Inzaghi’s plans for the remainder of the season. Atletico Madrid are interested, and some other Premier League sides might come into the equation if the Saudi side makes their intention clear regarding the disgruntled 26-year-old’s future.

He has a huge chance to leave Al-Hilal, although the Saudi club’s asking price, as well as his huge salary demands, might pose a problem for interested parties. As for Newcastle United, they may not be able to afford him, nor is their manager keen to get a deal in place.
