Antoine Griezmann (34) is not expected to leave Atlético Madrid before the end of the current season, according to information from L’Équipe.
While very open to the idea of joining Major League Soccer to continue his career, the French international with 137 caps (44 goals) has reportedly decided not to join Orlando City SC, with whom he has been in talks in recent weeks, in order to give himself the opportunity to end his adventure with the Colchoneros in the best possible way.
Having qualified for the Copa del Rey final, where they will face Real Sociedad for the title, Diego Simeone’s men can also still dream of victory in the Champions League, having to defeat Tottenham Hotspur to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
Griezmann, Atlético’s all-time leading scorer with 210 goals to his name, can therefore still hope to achieve a double with the Madrid club before bidding farewell next summer, one year before his contract expires.
It will then be time for him to make the second ‘Decision’ of his career, choosing the club he will play for in the future. While Orlando City retain priority to sign him, Inter Miami and CF Montréal are also on the list of contenders to welcome the 2018 World Cup champion.
