Manchester United have verbal agreement with Bruno Guimaraes

Manchester United have taken a major step towards securing the services of Newcastle United midfield mainstay Bruno Guimaraes.

Manchester United are looking to revamp their midfield this summer on a priority basis, and they have started working towards it. Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes is believed to be one of their top targets, and according to Indykaila News, the Red Devils have taken a massive step towards signing him.

United have agreed personal terms with the Brazilian international regarding a move ahead of next season. The player’s advisors are pushing the Manchester-based giants to reach an agreement with the Tyneside club.

Guimaraes has certainly taken his game to the next level since joining Newcastle at the start of 2022 from Olympique Lyon. Not only has he established himself as one of their mainstays, but the 28-year-old is also widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

While the Brazilian international prefers playing as a central midfielder, he is capable enough to take charge in a defensive role. He is pretty much an all-rounder who can thrive as a deep-lying playmaker as well as in advanced roles.

Guimaraes could leave Newcastle this summer

Guimaraes is a very important part of Eddie Howe’s plans, and the English manager certainly won’t want to lose him anytime soon. However, with his contract running out in 2028, they are not in complete control over his future.

The Magpies do want to renew his terms, but the Brazilian could push for an exit this summer, amidst interest from other top clubs. With the Tyneside club set to miss out on European football, standing in Guimaraes’ way will be very difficult.

Manchester United are closing in on Guimaraes

The upcoming transfer window might be the Magpies’ final opportunity to raise significant funds. Manchester United have emerged as a potential destination for the 28-year-old. With Casemiro leaving and Manuel Ugarte likely to be sold, the Red Devils are looking to revamp their midfield.

Guimaraes is at the top of their wishlist, and it seems they have taken a massive step towards signing him. Personal terms have been agreed, and the player’s advisors want the Red Devils to strike a deal with Newcastle. The Magpies will still have the upper hand in negotiations, but the player’s stance could tilt it in favour of United.
