Liverpool ready to sack Arne Slot after latest setback

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is under a lot of pressure after the recent disappointing performances, and he could be shown the door soon.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Netherlands manager is under intense scrutiny, and Liverpool would have no qualms about letting him leave.

Initially, it was expected that Liverpool would back the manager and give him the time to turn things around. However, there has been no sign of progress in recent months, and it would be ideal for the club to part ways with the manager.

Liverpool won the league title last season, and Slot was heavily backed in the transfer market. He spent half a billion on new signings, but he has failed to deliver this season. Most of his signings have underperformed, and he has failed to get the best out of the existing players as well. It is clear that his tactics are not working, and the players are lacking in serious motivation under him as well.

Liverpool are in decline

Liverpool crashed out of the FA Cup in the quarter-finals against Manchester City recently, and they had already crashed out of the English League Cup. There is no chance of fighting for the league title this season, and they are in serious danger of missing out on Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign.

While they have made it to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, they are up against the defending champions PSG, and the French outfit could inflict further misery on them if they continue to drop mediocre performances every week.

Slot has clearly lost the dressing room and the fans. It would be ideal for Liverpool to make a change now and allow a new manager to turn things around. They have been heavily linked with Xabi Alonso, who is currently unemployed after his dismissal from Real Madrid. He is a fan favourite at Liverpool from his playing days, and he could lift the club’s spirits.
