Juventus Could Face Bremer Dilemma at Some Point

Juventus got closer to the top four over the weekend, but they are making contingency plans in case they miss out, and Gleison Bremer could be part of those, TuttoSport informs.

The star center-back has long been untouchable, but the club’s stance could change. The Brazilian international appears to have lost a step because of multiple knee problems and has had some uncharacteristic blunders.

Bremer will soon turn 30, and the Juventus higher-ups might consider losing him less detrimental than cashing in on younger center-pieces, for instance, Pierre Kalulu or Khephren Thuram. It’ll only partially be their decision. The defender’s contract includes a €58M release clause valid until August 10th.

He was selected by Carlo Ancelotti in the last international window after a long hiatus. He has decent chances of making the World Cup roster. If he performed well across the pond, it’d increase the likelihood of some top clubs emptying their coffers to sing him.

The former Torino ace is comfortable where he is, but he wants to win trophies. If he realizes he won’t be able to do that with the Old Lady, he’ll be ready to listen to the proposals coming from abroad.

Our Take on Juventus and Bremer

His slight dip can mostly be attributed to a pair of injuries. He’s massive and needs to get into a rhythm to perform well. Given his age, it’s hard to imagine that any outfit will match his release clause. If the management does decide to make him available regardless, they’d have to be fine with having Federico Gatti and Lloyd Kelly as regulars, or land a pair of the Bosman targets they are eyeing, since top-notch defenders cost a fortune.
