According to SportBild via Sport Witness, Hoffenheim star Bazoumana Toure is a player of interest to Liverpool ahead of the summer. The Reds have reportedly watched the winger in action during a recent international game, fueling speculation about a potential approach for the attacker ahead of the summer.
Liverpool are set to have yet another summer window that could define the club’s future. Having spent enormously last summer on signings like Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike, the Merseysiders are currently in danger of missing out on a top-five finish, which has fueled speculation they could spend big once more in the close season.
The big development is Mohamed Salah’s upcoming exit, which will send the club into the market to find a replacement. Yan Diomande is the priority target, and so is Michael Olise, although the latter is thought to be out of reach at the moment.
Diomande will decide his future at after the World Cup, amid suggestions that RB Leipzig will demand €100 million to sell the Ivorian midfielder. However, Diomande is not the only name on their list, as fellow Bundesliga winger and Ivorian Bazoumana Toure is also a potential target for Liverpool in their bid to replace Salah.
Liverpool reportedly sent scouts to Everton’s Hill-Dickinson Stadium to watch Toure in action for the Ivory Coast, who took on Scotland at the end of March. The observers returned with glowing reports about the Hoffenheim star, with suggestions that they might approach ahead of the summer.
The left-footed Toure predominantly plays on the left wing, although he is equally capable of taking up positions on the other flank as well as playing as a wide man in a 4-4-2, making him all the more valuable for a team like Liverpool. Hoffenheim are reportedly valuing him at €40 million, which, considering the price point on Diomande, makes Toure a significantly cheaper option.
Toure also has other Premier League sides showing an interest, but the scouting mission from Liverpool to watch him in action probably signals who is looking more intently. It is yet to be determined if the club are preparing any move for the €40 million-rated Bundesliga winger, though a deal could well be within the realms of possibility ahead of the summer.
