Sunderland’s flying season, which will likely see them finish higher in the table than expected, could lead to several of their players being linked with a move away. As per Sports Boom, Enzo Le Fee could be the subject of intense interest from top-six teams, as Liverpool faces Aston Villa’s competition in the race for the French midfielder.
Le Fee has proved to be a smart signing for Sunderland since they brought him in during January 2025. Upon promotion to the Premier League, the Black Cats had to trigger a buy obligation in his loan deal that cost them in the region of £19 million, as per the report.
Given the kind of season Sunderland have had — they are now set to finish much higher than many would have expected — Regis Le Bris’s side could anticipate a few approaches for their players, including Le Fee. While the Black Cats are not interested in selling the Frenchman, it might take a fee close to £35 million to make them consider the idea of a departure.
There has been some interest from Arsenal earlier, but it appears Liverpool and Aston Villa are the main contenders for the £35 million-rated midfielder. Unai Emery’s side could brace for offers coming in for Morgan Rogers, with a host of top teams interested in the England international.
Selling Rogers would see a need for a big replacement, and given how proven Le Fee has been, he could be the ideal option in that scenario. Aston Villa are not alone in the race for the Frenchman, as Liverpool ponder a move for the Sunderland star.
Liverpool are planning on bringing in new players to improve their current squad ahead of the new season. They do have a formidable option in the attacking midfield role in Florian Wirtz, but adding competition to the position might suit Arne Slot’s plans.
Whether Liverpool are eager to pay as much as £35 million for the Frenchman remains to be seen, but they are in a healthy financial position to do so. Moreover, Le Fee’s immense experience at the top level, as well as his impressive season in the Premier League, would suit the Merseysiders.
