Liverpool eyeing striker move this summer, but won’t spend big

Liverpool are reportedly looking to bring in a quality striker in the summer transfer window after losing Hugo Ekitike to a long-term injury.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool have limited resources heading into the summer transfer window, and they will not be able to spend a lot of money on a goal scorer.

Hugo Ekitike has damaged his Achilles and he is likely to be sidelined for several months. He could miss most of the upcoming season, and it is no surprise that Liverpool is looking at strikers. They need someone who can support Alexander Isak in the attack.  Ekitike has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season.

The Swedish International has missed the majority of his debut campaign with Liverpool with a broken leg. He has recently returned to action, and Liverpool cannot rely on him to play every week next season. He has a mixed record of availability throughout his career. Liverpool will need to handle him carefully and manage his workload.

Liverpool should invest in a dynamic forward

Investing in another striker would be ideal. It remains to be seen who they end up with. They have been linked to multiple wingers, and it would be ideal if they signed a dynamic forward capable of operating on the flanks as well as centrally. They need more creativity, explosive pace, and technical ability in the final third.

Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah next season. The Egyptian has announced that he will leave the club in the summer. He has been an elite goal scorer for Liverpool. Replacing his output will not be easy. With limited resources, Liverpool will find it difficult to bring in the right player. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

Liverpool had a disappointing season by their standards. They are pushing for Champions League qualification this season, but one would have expected them to fight for the league title after spending nearly half a billion in the summer.

They will be hoping to fight for major trophies once again. It remains to be seen whether they can plug the gaps in the squad and compete with Arsenal and Manchester City next year.
