Le Mans goalkeeper Nicolas Kocik attracting interest in Ligue 1 and La Liga

The last line of defense for the joint-best defense in Ligue 2 – having conceded just 31 goals this season – Le Mans’ Nicolas Kocik (27) is attracting a lot of attention.

Spanish club Levante, currently fighting to avoid relegation from La Liga and expressing strong interest, as well as several Ligue 1 teams, are reportedly keen to sign the Maubeuge native, according to Foot Mercato.

A key figure in Le Mans’ return to the top flight of French football, Kocik could well find himself playing in the top division in colours other than those he has worn for the past four seasons. Having started all 31 league matches he has played this season, the 27-year-old goalkeeper has kept no fewer than 13 clean sheets in the process.

All the more reason to question his omission from the five nominees for the second-tier Goalkeeper of the Season award, which was ultimately won by Rodez’s Quentin Braat (28).
