RC Lens have stepped up their attempts to sign FC Lorient’s Pablo Pagis (23), who recently expressed a desire to move on this summer.
Earlier this month, Ouest-France reported that Lens, Stade Rennais, Olympique Lyonnais and Paris FC were all interested in the playmaker, who, having guided Les Merlus into Ligue 1 last season, has just had a breakout campaign in France’s top flight. In 32 games in all competitions, he scored 10 goals and registered five assists.
Within that context, Pagis recently told Ouest-France that it was the “right moment” to leave Lorient. It looks set to be a tough summer for Les Merlus, who are also confirmed to lose manager Olivier Pantaloni and top scorer, Bamba Dieng.
The latter is being linked with a move to the Bundesliga, however, Pagis wants to remain in France. He could have the chance to do so. Lens, who next season will return to the UEFA Champions League, are stepping up their interest, Mohamed Toubache-Ter understands.
