Jarrod Bowen has hinted that he will continue at West Ham United beyond the summer and help the East London club return to the Premier League next season.
Speaking to Sky Sports after West Ham United’s relegation from the Premier League, Jarrod Bowen commented on his future amid mounting speculation surrounding him. While suggesting that saying anything would be “disrespectful” towards the club, he hinted that a summer exit may not be on the cards.
Bowen said, “I am under contract here, I have been here six and a half years. There are going to be rumours, talk and nonsense. But ultimately, what I see is getting this club back in the Premier League. It is where it deserves to be; it is a really low moment but we have to bounce back. I have had some really good moments but this is really difficult. You never know what the future holds. For me, I want to see this club back in the Premier League.”
Jarrod Bowen has been one of the best players in the Premier League since joining West Ham United from Hull City in a deal worth over £20 million in January 2020. The Leominster native hit the ground running in the Premier League, and he has been a talismanic figure for the Irons in the last six years.
The English attacker has made over 250 appearances for West Ham thus far, amassing 85 goals and 63 assists. Meanwhile, the 29-year-old attacker’s exploits for the East London outfit have piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs, with interest set to rise after the club’s relegation. Liverpool and Manchester United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature, as per widespread reports.
Manchester United’s interest in Jarrod Bowen is understandable. Even though Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have been top-class in their debut season, the Red Devils want to bolster their depth in several areas ahead of the return to the UEFA Champions League. So, Bowen has emerged as a viable target for West Ham, with his versatility adding to his appeal.
As for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah will depart from Anfield as a free agent this summer, forcing the Merseyside club to scour the market for a productive attacker. Bowen can be a like-for-like replacement for Salah, and with the 29-year-old at the peak of his powers, he can hit the ground running at the Merseyside club.
However, Bowen’s latest comments have left his prospective suitors in a difficult position, even though he did not fully commit his future to the club. Liverpool and Manchester United will hope to turn his head, hoping to exploit the situation after West Ham’s relegation.
