An IPSOS study has revealed growing confidence among the French public that Paris Saint-Germain will defeat Arsenal in the Champions League final on 30th May.
Whilst only 42% of French people overall are predicting a PSG victory, compared to 14% expecting defeat, optimism rises considerably amongst respondents expressing a firm opinion. Of those with a clear prediction, almost three quarters (74%) believe that Luis Enrique’s side will overcome Arsenal to win the first Champions League title in the club’s history.
The study also highlighted PSG’s significant national reach. Around 44% of French people follow the club in some capacity, a figure that climbs to nearly 80% amongst football followers.
Among PSG followers, 24% describe themselves as active supporters, 30% as regular followers, whilst 46% simply keep track of the club’s results. The IPSOS study also identified Ousmane Dembélé as the central figure of the current PSG side. The France international was selected by 33% of football followers, ahead of Luis Enrique (16%) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (13%).
