Davide Ancelotti set to be named Lille manager

As per a report from Foot Mercato, confirmed by L’Équipe, Davide Ancelotti will succeed Bruno Genesio as manager of Lille OSC.

Genesio guided LOSC to a third-place finish in Ligue 1, enough to see them qualify for the ‘League Phase’ of next season’s UEFA Champions League. The Frenchman did not see his contract extended and his exit was confirmed on Monday. Genesio is strongly linked with the managerial role at Olympique de Marseille.

He will be replaced by Ancelotti, son of former Real Madrid manager and current Brazil manager Carlo. He will look to make his own name in the north of France. Davide has an agreement in place to join Les Dogues. Olivier Létang has worked quickly to secure the Italian’s signature ahead of a UCL campaign.

It will be Ancelotti’s second role as first-team manager, having spent several months on the bench at Botafogo. Prior to that, he had been assistant to his father.
