Anglo-Belgian head coach Will Still is set to make his return in Ligue 1, according to L’Equipe. After previous spells with Stade de Reims and Racing Club de Lens, Still will take over at AJ Auxerre, who are on the verge of dismissing Christophe Pélissier. Despite securing Auxerre’s Ligue 1 status for the second season in a row, the experienced Frenchman has been let go.
Pélissier had the backing of Auxerre president Baptiste Malherbe, but the final call fell to the club owner, Chinese businessman James Zhou. The Yonne side has reportedly reached an agreement with Still, who was a free agent since his dismissal last Autumn as Southampton head coach.
The outlet adds that Sporting Director David Wantier, who didn’t see eye to eye with Pélissier, will spearhead the club’s transfer activity this summer. Auxerre are expected to part ways with two of their best players – Lassine Sinayoko and Kévin Danois – to free up funds in excess of €30m.
