Stade Rennais FC have announced that Estéban Lepaul (26) has extended his contract by a further year. Originally signed by the Breton club until 2029, the striker will now remain tied to their ranks until 2030.
Having joined from SCO Angers last summer, the Auxerre-born player enjoyed a superb season, finding the net 21 times in Ligue 1 (20 for Rennes, one for Angers) and finishing as the league’s top scorer.
A starter in 31 of his 32 appearances for Les Rouge et Noir, Lepaul also showed his selfless side, providing no fewer than five assists for his team-mates. This impressive burst of form has naturally led several top European clubs to take an interest in him, with his name notably linked to Atlético Madrid.
But for the 26-year-old, who is set to make his European debut next season, a move away has never seemed on the cards, as he has consistently stated his desire to stay in Brittany for at least one more season.
