Official: Barcelona announce €12m sale

La Liga giants Barcelona have this week announced the departure of an up-and-coming member of the club’s midfield ranks. This comes amid confirmation of youngster Tommy Marqués taking his talents to Portugal with SC Braga.

Midfielder Tommy has for his part been linked with a Blaugrana departure for several weeks now. After word was forthcoming that Deco and co. were going all in on their pursuit of Manchester City star Rodri, the Spanish starlet’s path to first-team minutes became an even more competitive one.

Tommy, who managed a pair of La Liga appearances last season, therefore made the call to seek out consistent playing time away from the Spotify Camp Nou.

The aforementioned Braga, after last summer bringing in Pau Víctor from Barca, therefore made contact with the Catalans once more regarding a deal for the engine room starlet.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, the Arsenalistas have officially landed their man. As per a statement across Barcelona’s social media platforms:

‘Tommy Marqués moves to S.C. Braga Agreement reached between FC Barcelona and S.C. Braga for the transfer of the player Tommy Marqués. The Club has included a buyback option and a sell-on percentage in the transfer. FC Barcelona would like to wish Tommy Marqués all the best in this new chapter and appreciates his commitment throughout his spell at the Club.’

Tommy is understood to have set Braga back a sum in the region of €12 million.
