According to Ekrem Konur, Crystal Palace are keen on acquiring the services of Cheikh Sabaly, who has been putting in impressive performances for FC Metz in the French top flight. The Eagles want more quality in the final third and consider him an ideal fit for their project.
Sabaly joined Metz back in 2018 from Generation Foot’s youth setup. After multiple loan spells away from the club, the Senegalese international finally managed to establish himself in the first team during the 2022/23 season.
The 26-year-old has only gone from strength to strength in recent seasons. Sabaly had an impressive 2024/25 season as he finished with 15 goals and three assists in his 33 league outings. The player’s consistent performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs across Europe.
While he only has two assists in his nine league outings in the new campaign, interest in his services still remains quite high. Multiple English clubs are after Sabaly’s signature, and with his contract running out at the end of the season, they see this as a great opportunity to sign a top-quality forward on a bargain.
Crystal Palace are one of the clubs that are very keen on signing the 26-year-old. The Eagles have parted ways with some of their best attackers in recent windows, and Glasner is keen on adding more firepower to help him cope with their absence.
While Cheikh Sabaly prefers playing on the left flank, he can even chip in as a striker when needed. The Eagles believe he could be a valuable addition to their squad. As a result, they are monitoring him ahead of a potential. It will be interesting to see if they make a move in January or wait until the summer, when he could be available for free.
But signing the 26-year-old won’t be that straightforward, as Middlesbrough, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Brentford have all shown willingness to secure his services. Even Southampton are keen on his signature and are in talks to sign the Metz forward.
