Crystal Palace sound out Thomas Frank for summer move

Crystal Palace have sounded out a potential move for Thomas Frank as Oliver Glasner’s successor ahead of the summer.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace are eyeing Thomas Frank as a potential option to replace Oliver Glasner in the summer. The 52-year-old former Tottenham manager, who left the North Londoners on Wednesday, has been sounded out by the Eagles through third parties as a potential successor to the Austrian.

Several top-level Premier League teams are likely to plunge into the managerial market in the summer to make necessary changes to their respective setups. Tottenham are certainly in that boat, following the sacking of Thomas Frank on Wednesday in the wake of the midweek home loss to Newcastle United.

The 52-year-old former Tottenham manager could be a big target for several clubs, and Crystal Palace are now among those in the running for his signature. The South Londoners are already looking at multiple options in the market following Oliver Glasner’s decision to leave once his contract expires in the summer.

Crystal Palace are not planning on sacking Glasner, even though he has gone through a terrible spell of results, and expect him to lead the team until he summer, especially in Europe. The club are already looking for options to replace the Austrian tactician, which includes a host of talented names.

Michael Carrick is a target should Manchester United move away from the idea of giving him a permanent role in the summer. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is another option, but the Spaniard could have many more prestigious clubs chasing his signature, while Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna is also being considered.

Is Thomas Frank the top target?

Crystal Palace reportedly tried to understand if Frank would be willing to join them in the summer before he switched to Tottenham from Brentford. With the 52-year-old Danish tactician now without a job, it is only understandable that the Eagles have reignited their interest through third parties, as a move for the Dane has been sounded out, as per the report.

On paper, Thomas Frank would be a sensational appointment to replace Glasner, but it remains to be seen whether the 52-year-old former Tottenham manager is ready to take on a team in the mid-table. Given how his spell with Spurs went about, should Frank think about keeping himself in the Premier League, Crystal Palace might be a good bet for his immediate future.
