Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle United vying for Nnamdi Collins

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are keen on signing 22-year-old German defender Nnamdi Collins from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are interested in Nnamdi Collins. The four Premier League clubs are scouring the market for a versatile defender heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back has emerged as a target for them.

Who is Nnamdi Collins?

Nnamdi Collins has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in the Bundesliga since joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Borussia Dortmund in August 2023. Born in Dusseldorf, the youngster passed through the academies at VfL Benrath 06 and Fortuna Dusseldorf before graduating from the youth division at Borussia Dortmund.

The 22-year-old has risen in prominence during his spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, making over 50 appearances thus far while chipping in with two goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Collins’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

Arsenal may dip into the market for a versatile defender in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Ben White’s long-term future. While the Gunners have shown interest in recognised right-backs like Ivan Fresneda, Mikel Arteta appreciates versatility in his players. So, Collins is a viable target for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in Nnamdi Collins is understandable. The Reds are combing the market for a centre-back amid uncertainties surrounding Ibrahima Konate’s long-term future. Additionally, Virgil van Dijk is on the wrong side of 30, while Joe Gomez has struggled with fitness issues throughout his spell with Liverpool. So, Collins is an option worth considering.

As for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola may find a use for Collins in the right-back berth, as he has a stacked central defensive unit. Interestingly, the youngster can be a like-for-like replacement for John Stones, who may leave City as a free agent. Meanwhile, Newcastle United will aim to sign a centre-back this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Fabian Schar’s long-term future.

However, a move for the Eintracht Frankfurt defender will not be straightforward, as they “hold a strong negotiating position” due to the player’s contract situation. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 22-year-old German defender.
