Barcelona told to pay €35-40 million for Omar Marmoush

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush for just €35-40 million.

Omar Marmoush’s move to Manchester City has not really worked out. Just over a year after joining them, the Egyptian international already seems to be surplus to requirements. The Premier League giants seem ready to sanction his departure this summer to cut their losses.

According to a report from Fichajes, Barcelona have emerged as a potential destination for the 27-year-old Manchester City attacker . The Catalan giants are looking for someone who can replace Robert Lewandowski, and they feel Marmoush could help their cause.

After making a name for himself at Eintracht Frankfurt, Omar Marmoush joined Manchester City at the start of 2025. While he had a prominent role in the second half of last season, the Egyptian international has hardly featured in the ongoing campaign.

The player has racked up fewer than 900 minutes and has only been involved in 24 matches across competitions. While his contract runs until 2029, the Egyptian international’s future has already become a big talking point as he is no longer an important part of Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Barcelona could push for Marmoush’s signature

Barcelona have emerged as the biggest contender for Omar Marmoush’s signature. They are looking for someone who can replace Lewandowski, whose contract runs out at the end of the season. They consider the versatile Marmoush as an ideal fit for Flick’s system and their project.

While Julian Alvarez is their priority target, signing the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner is not that straightforward. Meanwhile, bringing the Egyptian international to Camp Nou looks like a real possibility, as Manchester City are ready to negotiate and they would accept an offer of around €35-40 million.

Marmoush could be a very cost-effective option for the Catalan giants. Not only can he lead the line, but the 27-year-old can also feature as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He could thrive under Flick’s possession-oriented style.

Given their current financial situation, this is certainly a very appealing option for Barcelona. If Lewandowski’s departure is finalised, going after Marmoush’s signature will certainly be a smart move. With the player struggling to get regular minutes at Manchester City, he would fancy a move to the Spanish club, provided he is promised regular first-team action.
