According to a report from SportsBoom, Arsenal are ready to sanction the departure of Gabriel Jesus amidst interest from clubs like Juventus and AC Milan. The Gunners have set an asking price of £30 million for the Brazilian striker, who has gone down the pecking order at the North London club.
The 29-year-old made quite a name for himself while playing for Manchester City. On the back of his performances, Mikel Arteta, who had seen him up close during his time at City, pushed Arsenal to secure his services in the summer of 2022.
They forked out £45 million to bring him to North London, and he was an integral part of their plans in the initial years, with Arteta using him as a link to bring in wide players into the game. However, things have been a lot different of late.
The Spanish manager has shifted towards a more physical game in the final third, and he brought in Viktor Gyokeres to help him out. The Swedish international is the preferred choice up top, and even Kai Havertz is ahead of Gabriel Jesus, who seems to have lost a bit of pace following multiple knee injuries.
With him way down the pecking order, a summer departure looms large. Since he will only have a year left on his deal, the Gunners won’t have an upper hand in negotiations. But they are still looking to bag £30 million from his departure.
While there is no shortage of interest in his services, a move to Italy looks very likely. The physical demands of the league are relatively low in comparison to the Premier League, and Gabriel Jesus could thrive there. AC Milan and Juventus are the two clubs that want him.
Both clubs seek more quality in the final third. They are looking for a technically gifted player, and the Brazilian certainly fits the bill. They have already established contact with his camp. Meanwhile, Milan are examining how well the 29-year-old could adjust to Italy’s controlled and tactical game.
While both clubs are quite serious about their pursuit, he is currently earning £265,000 per week, which could be a massive obstacle for Italian clubs, who have tight budgets. Unless the player is ready to take a massive pay cut, a move to the Serie A won’t materialise.
