Manchester United, Barcelona set for key meeting for Marcus Rashford

Barcelona sporting director Deco is set to meet with Marcus Rashford’s agent to discuss the future of the winger ahead of the summer.

Marcus Rashford’s future is still undecided from a Barcelona point of view, as the club are yet to make a decision on signing him permanently. As per Sport via Sport Witness, Deco is set to meet with the winger’s agent over the future of the player and discuss the ‘pros and cons’ of whether a deal with Manchester United is feasible.

Marcus Rashford made a big decision last summer to leave Manchester United to join Barcelona on loan for the season. The attacker has been shining since making his move to the Catalan giants, with a return of 24 goals and assists backing the club’s decision to bring the England international.

Hansi Flick is overall happy with the player and would not mind keeping him beyond the summer, with Barcelona agreeing to a €30 million buy option during talks with Manchester United last summer. However, they are yet to make a decision to exercise the clause, which has kept the lid on their thinking over Rashford.

Sporting director Deco is now reportedly set to meet with Rashford’s agent to discuss the ‘pros and cons’ of signing the winger permanently. As for any potential talks with Manchester United, the club are fixated on receiving the €30 million option they have included in the deal, and amid reports of a request to reduce the price, the club are not deterred by those stories.

Reports were stating Barcelona could request a second loan deal for Rashford, something Manchester United may not sanction at this point. Overall, if the Spanish giants want the winger, they must pay the clause agreed in the loan agreement, or risk losing the attacker to another club.

Are other clubs interested in Marcus Rashford?

There’s an alternative argument rumbling about the player’s value and whether Manchester United can get a better deal from elsewhere. There is interest from other teams like AC Milan and PSG, which could strengthen the club’s hand when it comes to dealing with Barcelona.

A player of Rashford’s quality will surely have more suitors keeping close tabs on his situation; however, Barcelona have not ruled out a move yet. There were rumours that the clause had expired on March 31, but further updates stated it does not expire until June.
