PSG make contact to sign West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes

Paris Saint-Germain have made contact to sign West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes (21), according to a report from Foot Mercato.

There are already two Portuguese players running PSG’s midfield and a third could be added this summer. Vitinha and Joao Neves have both excelled since joining the club and they could be joined by Fernandes, who joined West Ham from Southampton last summer in a big-money move.

Foot Mercato understands that Les Parisiens have already reached out to the West Ham midfielder’s entourage. The Portugal international has been a mainstay in a struggling West Ham side, starting 30 games this season. With just five games remaining, West Ham remain threatened by the drop in the Premier League.

Speaking earlier this week, PSG manager Luis Enrique said that there would be few signings this summer and, like at the end of last season, it will be a matter of “small adjustments”. One of those could come in the form of Fernandes.
