Bournemouth’s Romain Faivre could stay at Auxerre

Romain Faivre (27) could stay at AJ Auxerre beyond his current loan spell, as per a report from L’Équipe.

Faivre spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Auxerre from AFC Bournemouth. In that time, he made 10 Ligue 1 appearances for L’AJA, registering two assists in that time. It is sufficient for Auxerre to attempt to renew his loan deal.

L’Équipe understands that there is an agreement in place between all parties for a new loan for the 2026/27 season. Faivre’s contract at Bournemouth runs until 2028, meaning that by the end of the new loan, he would have just one year remaining on his deal with the Premier League side.

However, the deal could be complicated by the situation regarding Christophe Pélissier. It was reported – but not confirmed – that Pélissier had been sacked. Club president Baptiste Malherbe is attempting to get owner James Zhou to go back on his decision. Should he succeed, the future of sporting director David Wantier would be compromised and so, perhaps, the Faivre deal.
