Giovanni van Bronckhorst returns to take charge at Feyenoord following departure from Liverpool

As reported by ESPN, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to return to Feyenoord as head coach. The former Dutch international has spent the last season working with Arne Slot at Liverpool but will now return to the Eredivisie and Feyenoord, signing a two year deal with the Rotterdam side. Van Bronckhorst takes over from Robin van Persie who was sacked after just over a season in charge of Feyenoord.

Van Bronckhorst will also bring in Sipke Hulshoff, who was part of the Slot set up at Liverpool. Between 2015 and 2019 van Bronckhorst was in charge of Feyenoord, winning the league title in 2017, a victory that ended an 18 year run without a top flight title for the side. He now takes charge of a Feyenoord side that finished second in the league, albeit a long way off of the Eredivisie champions PSV.

Feyenoord are also set to be active in the transfer window to help the new head coach put together a title challenging side. OGC Nice midfielder Charles Vanhoutte will be one of the first signings this summer.
