OGC Nice have signed Eintracht Frankfurt striker Elye Wahi (23) on loan, both clubs have announced. The Ivory Coast international makes an eagerly-anticipated return with Les Aiglons after a successful six-month loan in the past campaign. Wahi logged nine goals and two assists for the INEOS-owned Ligue 1 club, including a season-saving brace against Saint-Etienne in the Ligue 1 playoffs. He’ll wear the No. 11 jersey for Olivier Pantaloni’s side. Wahi’s loan includes an option to buy.
Wahi touched down in Nice late last night ahead of his loan move with fans gathering at the city’s airport to welcome him. Speaking in a press conference attended by Get French Football News on Saturday night, following a goalless draw against FC Lorient, Pantaloni said that he was “impatient to have a signing” in attack. He added that he would be having talks with his superiors to understand the status of any deal(s).
With Wahi, Nice have got their man. The Ivory Coast international could start on Sunday against Paris FC for Ligue 1’s second matchday.
