Real Madrid boss Mourinho responds to Man City charges

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho was on Thursday drawn publicly on the subject of the ongoing controversy at Premier League heavyweights Manchester City for the first time.

Man City have of course taken their place front and centre in the media headlines across world football over the course of the last week.

This comes after the Premier League confirmed reports that the Sky Blues have been found guilty of ‘all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period, and the majority of charges in relation to its failure to co-operate with the League’s investigation’.

Those in a position of power at The Etihad, as a result, look set for an unprecedented punishment, ranging from massive fines to points deductions and potentially even the stripping of Premier League titles.

Speaking during his own appearance in front of the media on Thursday, the aforementioned José Mourinho was therefore asked for his take on what is a seismic development for not only English, but all of world football.

And Real Madrid’s headmaster, speaking to CorSport (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) went on to provide a lighthearted response:

“I’d rather have a bit of a laugh about it… Being in my 60s, I’ll have to be lucky enough still to be here when the final verdict arrives.

“Now a ruling will come, then an appeal… I’ll be 80!”
