West Ham United set to make move to sign Mads Hermansen

West Ham United are targeting a move for Mads Hermansen as an approach is likely to arrive on Leicester City’s doorstep soon.

According to Ben Jacobs, West Ham United are interested in signing Mads Hermansen, with the East Londoners set to make an approach for the keeper soon. Leicester City might be forced to sell the stopper if the right offer arrives, as the Dane might get his way back in the top flight.

West Ham United have undergone a few changes with their squad this summer, following the release of several players after their respective contracts expired. One of them is Lukasz Fabianski, with the long-serving Pole clearly out of their long-term plans.

With Alphonse Areola the only recognised senior-level keeper in the ranks, it is only obvious that the Hammers will target another stopper. Instead of bringing in someone of the quality of playing as a backup, West Ham are targeting options that could compete with the Frenchman and could stand in with the chance of becoming the new No.1 under Graham Potter.

Parma stopper Zion Suzuki is a reported target, and it is clear that should they bring the Japanese international, he will only move if the No.1 spot is up for grabs. Werder Bremen star Michael Zetterer is another name on their list, and now there is a third one to ponder.

Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen is being considered by West Ham as a potential target to compete in this squad. The Danish keeper played 27 times in the Premier League last season, with two separate groin problems ensured he missed the other games. He might be ready to make his return to the top flight instead of playing in the Championship.

West Ham to make Mads Hermansen approach

The Hammers have considered a move for Hermansen, and as per Ben Jacobs, the current valuation of the 25-year-old goalkeeper is around £35 million from last summer and they might want a fee close to that figure. West Ham are unlikely to pay anywhere close to that sum, as they will have to negotiate the valuation down through talks.

It remains to be seen how much the Foxes would realistically want for the 25-year-old goalkeeper. West Ham will certainly enter into negotiations with a certain limit to how much they can spend on Mads Hermansen, as they are not expected to pay anywhere close to the previous £35 million valuation, as an approach for the Danish stopper seems to be on the cards.
