Manchester United line up €60 million move for Morten Hjulmand

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are gearing up to make a €60 million offer for Sporting CP skipper Morten Hjulmand.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Morten Hjulmand, and they could make a move for the Sporting CP skipper this winter. The Red Devils could end up making an offer worth €60 million to prise him away.

Hjulmand made a name for himself at Lecce before joining Sporting in the summer of 2023. The Danish international has only gone from strength to strength in recent seasons and has been handed the captain’s armband on the back of his performances.

While he still has three years left on his deal at the Portuguese club, the 26-year-old has been subject to a lot of interest from across Europe, and soon, he could be on the move. Juventus, Tottenham and Manchester United are clubs that have been linked with him.

The Red Devils seem to be quite serious about their pursuit of the Danish international. The Manchester-based giants seek more quality and depth in the centre of the park. With Casemiro’s contract running out, they are looking for an ideal successor.

Hjulmand seems to be an ideal fit for their project. He has a strong physical presence, excels at ball recovery, can distribute the ball well, and will bring structural balance to their midfield with his versatility.

United are gearing up to make a move

The Red Devils have identified him as a priority target to reinforce the centre of the park in the upcoming transfer window. They would look to table a significant offer of €60 million to get him out of Sporting.

While the player seems keen on joining a bigger club if the right opportunity arises, much will depend on the Portuguese side, as he is protected by an €80 million release clause. They could choose to sanction his departure for the right price or opt to hold onto the 26-year-old for now.

Ruben Amorim shares an excellent relationship with Hjulmand, having been the manager who signed him at Sporting, where the midfielder went on to enjoy considerable success under his guidance. That connection could certainly play a role in a potential transfer.
