Manchester United ahead of Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid in Alessandro Bastoni race, told to pay €100 million

Manchester United are reportedly ahead in the race for Alessandro Bastoni, with a host of other top teams chasing the €100 million-rated defender.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are in front of a steady queue in the race for Alessandro Bastoni. The 26-year-old Italian defender is attracting plenty of interest with the possibility of him leaving Inter Milan in the summer, with Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona also showing credible interest.

Alessandro Bastoni could be a big topic in the transfer market ahead of the summer, as a host of top teams are looking into the possibility of signing him. The 26-year-old Italian defender is probably Inter Milan’s best defender over the last few years, as he could be open to the idea of a new challenge.

Arsenal and Barcelona were linked with a move, while Real Madrid are also considered a suitor for the 26-year-old Italian defender. It is important to note that the report claims Bastoni has a market value of around €80 million, but Inter Milan would not accept anything less than €100 million.

Hence, should Arsenal, Barcelona or Real Madrid attempt to sign him, it would probably smash the world record fee for a defender, currently held by Manchester United’s Harry Maguire. Speaking of the Red Devils, it appears they are the front-runners in the chase, with the report claiming the club are seriously thinking about making a move for the €100 million-rated defender.

Manchester United may not particularly need another left-sided centre-back for their ranks, although the possibility of landing Bastoni could spark their interest. Lisandro Martinez is doing an admirable job before and after his long-term injury, while they might seek someone on the right-hand side to compete with Maguire.

Manchester United to make Bastoni move?

Manchester United are seen as the front-runners to sign Bastoni, but there will be question marks about whether they are willing to fork out a nine-figure sum to secure the Italian defender. The Red Devils are focused on strengthening other areas of the pitch, notably the central midfield positions, which is likely to cost them a huge sum in the market in the summer.

While the idea of bringing someone of Bastoni’s ilk may be a sign of how a big club operates, financially, Manchester United may prefer to spend big elsewhere. However, nothing can be ruled out at the moment, especially for Bastoni, and the Red Devils might still keep themselves in the race for the 26-year-old Italian defender.
