Napoli’s pursuit of Konstantinos Tzolakis is facing significant hurdles as the financial demands for the Greek goalkeeper begin to emerge.
According to a report from AreaNapoli, the Partenopei are interested in the Olympiacos shot-stopper, but the economic landscape of the deal is proving complicated. The main sticking point is the player’s personal wage demands; Tzolakis is reportedly dreaming big and asking for a salary of €2.5m per season. This figure is considered high for Napoli’s current wage structure, especially for a player coming from the Greek league.
The competition for his signature further complicates matters, as several Premier League clubs are also monitoring the situation and would have little trouble meeting those salary requirements.
For Napoli to move forward, an exit in the department is likely necessary. While the departure of Alex Meret could potentially free up the required resources and space, the Italian international has so far failed to attract any concrete interest on the market. Without finding a suitor for Meret, Napoli risk being stuck in a stalemate while Tzolakis and his representatives look toward the lucrative offers arriving from England.
