Inter Milan eyeing winter move to beat Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid to Dayot Upamecano

Inter Milan are prepared to make a move for Dayot Upamecano in January in an effort to beat off competition from top continental rivals.

According to Ekrem Konur, Inter Milan could accelerate in their pursuit of Dayot Upamecano by launching a January move. The Nerazzuri are eager to snap up the defender ahead of their continental rivals, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid all interested in the Bayern Munich centre-back.

There are so many top-notch defenders in the final year of their deal that next summer could shape up in a way that multiple top clubs are battling it out for free agents. One of them is Dayot Upamecano, who is currently showing no signs of renewing with Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich are still hopeful of renewing his deal, but could even consider cashing in on the defender in January if there’s no hope of continuation. Hence, a lot of top teams are on high alert ahead of the winter window and even next summer when the defender will be a free agent.

Upamecano is reportedly demanding big wages to join a new team or even to stay at Bayern Munich, which might narrow down the clubs he could potentially join. Chelsea and Liverpool have reportedly held talks with the defender, with either of those Premier League giants eager to make a move, given the Frenchman is considered one of the top centre-backs in world football.

Liverpool could lose Ibrahima Konate next summer on a free transfer, and hence they would be even open to making a winter move for Upamecano. However, Real Madrid are also part of the race and would be keen to explore a move for the Frenchman, which does give the defender, who joined Bayern Munich for £38 million back in 2021, plenty of options to consider in the summer or even January.

Inter Milan keen to beat suitors

Inter Milan are the latest to enter the race for the £38 million Bayern Munich star, and they are now reportedly ready to make a move in January. The Nerazzuri have been signing some high-quality free agents over the last few years owing to their financial instability, as Upamecano could be their next big target.

While most clubs are waiting for Upamecano’s deal at Bayern Munich to expire and sign him on a free transfer, Inter Milan could surprise them with an early move. Now, for the Nerazzuri to get their man, they must make a compelling pitch in the sporting and financial sense to convince the Frenchman to make the switch, which is still possible given how big a club they are in the current climate.
